This is a part-time, paid student position. CLAS does not offer volunteer positions.
Job description
CLAS tutors (Academic Student Employees) provide academic support to students in a variety of group and individual settings: tutorial groups, drop-in hours, and appointments. The modalities of tutoring performed by each tutor depend on both the needs of the program and the availability of the tutor around their UCSB courses.
CLAS tutors are expected to work 8-10 hours per week and do not work during Finals Week or on school holidays. All tutors are required to attend mandatory training in Week 0 (Week of Welcome) of Fall Quarter, and new tutors are required to attend orientation in Week 0 in Fall Quarter.
Tutoring hours are scheduled around course schedules. Ranges of hours and opportunities for online tutoring vary between programs. This position is paid hourly, and all training is paid.
While we accept applications year-round, our primary hiring period is during Spring Quarter for the following academic year. Applications submitted by the priority deadline receive priority consideration. Applications submitted outside of Spring Quarter will be reviewed for consideration in the event that a mid-year hire is required.
