Student Resource Building 3228

Since coming to UCSB in 1990, I have put in a combined twenty-nine years working with
students at the university as a TA, teaching associate, union organizer, tutor, and student
academic specialist. I’ve done this last job—individual consultations and workshops about
general academic skills—for twenty-three years. In other words, like many CLAS specialists, I
have spoken to thousands of students about how they study. I am continuously impressed with
the Gauchos; you all are talented, resourceful, and often very funny. I see my job as that of
helping you harness your amazing capacities so that you feel more empowered and even
delighted with process of building your great big brains. I am ABD in English and history at
UCSB. I got my BA in history at Northwestern University in 1990.
