An Overview of CLAS ServicesCampus Learning Assistance Services (CLAS) offers four categories of free tutorial services:
These services are organized in the following four categories: CLAS provides some individual tutoring to students referred by the Intercollegiate Athletics Department or by the Disabled Students Program. Also, students who would like to hire a private tutor may request referrals from CLAS coordinators. |
|
CLAS offers a range of Writing, ESL, and Foreign Language tutorials to all registered UCSB students. Students seeking individual assistance with writing assignments in all subject areas can sign up in advance for an appointment in the Writing Lab or use Writing Drop-in services in the lab on a first-come, first-served basis. Tutors assist students at any stage in the writing process—from analyzing an assignment to revising for clarity and conciseness. Tutors do not proofread or edit students’ papers; instead, students can work with tutors to learn how to identify patterns of errors. The Writing Lab is located in the Student Resource Building, Room 3231. Consult the Writing Lab schedule for appointment times and the Writing Drop-in schedule for days and times of drop-in services.

Both drop-ins are located on the third floor of the Student Resource Building. The Math/Physics Drop-in is Room 3263, and the Biology/Chemistry Drop-In is Room 3274.
